Spotted this eye catching shop design in Grafik magazine recently. The store is located on portobello road amongst a stack of brightly coloured unusual shop designs, however I’m betting this store front still stands out from the crowd. Aparantly the shapes are inspired by a form of south african art, drawing inspiration from the cultural diversity of the its imediate area. In my opinion the designs definetly have a ‘pixel art’ look to them making this hop front literally outstanding, relevant and very cool. You can see the store websie here: http://www.constructivelives.com/ (oh and by the way its a furniture shop and constructive live is its title!). Light Graffiti
Saturday, March 21st, 2009Take a look at the Wales based artist’s ‘light graffiti’. Apparantly he never uses photoshop and all these photographs are made using only long exposures and a torch!?! Theres somre really impressive pieces in his portfolio. Visit his website here: http://www.michaelbosanko.com/, or read about his work in the daily mail here.
Boxed water is better for the earth
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009Yep it makes sense to me, if we have to buy water in containers why do we buy them in environmentaly harmfull plastic bottles? I can understand that bottles are see through and thus seem more honest and astheticaly pleasing as far their contents are concerned. However if we are to believe the recent hype about recyceling plastic bags then it seems a little strange that companys insist on selling something very basic and essential in a harmfull container rather than other environmentaly friendly options. This is turning into a bit of a rant but its just something this project has made me think… but of course there is always tap water! You can view the project by ‘

Wear your pixel love…
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009![]()
If you are a pixel art geek then you’ll love the pixel watch! I think I’d go as far as to brandish my pixel art love on my wrist by wearing one of these bad boys. They are definetly comedy value and I reckon a good talking point in any uncomfortable silences. Unfortunately they are wee bit difficult to get hold of
let me know if you find a good outlet!
The Interactive World of Boobookachoo
Saturday, March 14th, 2009I run an online t-shirt shop called ‘boobookachoo‘. This shop has been a creative vent for me for the past two years, it’s where I tend to put my most experimental ideas in practice. The most recent project I am currently undertaking within boobookachoo is the new ‘world’ section. The basic idea is to attract more people to the site and keep them entertained through a crazy but fun interactive world full of games and visualy pleasing mazes. This project is also aimed at existing customers who already love boobookachoo’s designs and want to see a bit more into the mind and background behind the t-shirt designs. This all ties in quite nicely as people will be able to find t-shirts related too and inspired by the interactive world as it grows ever larger! Its a never ending project which fills any idle time quite well. check it out at: http://www.boobookachoo.com/world/intro.html
Vintage Shopper?
Saturday, March 14th, 2009Although its been a while since I purchased anything from a charity or vintage shop, I do love the idea of it, and tend to think these shops look ace! Above is a vintage store I’ve stumbled upon with an effective way of displaying their latest products. The site clearly has a very clean and minimal modern feel to it which in this case houses the vintage clothing photographs in a very visualy pleasing way. It could be siad that the photoboxes are reminiscent of polaroid photos. However aside from this the site as steered clear of obvious retro or vintage references and I think having the montage of vintage photographs tiled across the center stage is an honest and exciting way of displaying them. As the photographs are full of fun and cool content this site lets them speak for themsleves. The site can be found at: http://shop.marketpublique.com
